COMMITTED TO PROVIDING YOU THE BEST SALT
OUR MISSION
Sustainable salt production of high purity common salt and allied products to meet industrial needs and economic growth in Ghana
ABOUT SAAP SALT
The emergence of the petroleum, food and pharmaceutical industries in Ghana has necessitated the need for provision of high quality or purity salt (99.5 – 99.9%). Salt production in Ghana, however, depends solely on solar evaporation of sea water in large ponds to form salt crystals without purification. The purity, at best, is about 80 – 90% which is not suitable for any industrial application. The Country, therefore, has to import high purity salt including common table salt with the scarce foreign exchange. It is for this reason Sastin Ltd, which employed solar evaporation for salt production over 20 years metamorphed to SAAP Salt Industries Ltd. Incorporated in 2022, SAAP is a special purpose vehicle established to set-up a state-of-the-art salt plant, the first and one of its kind in Ghana, to be installed in the Central Region. The plant, which will be powered by hybrid power (solar and electricity) in addition to a standby power generator, employs a technology for continuous production of salt totally independent of the weather. The plant will be installed on 50 (which can be extended to 200) acre plot situate 900 yards from the sea and engulfs 20% surface mass of a lagoon which will serve as inexhaustible brine intake. The project hopefully would be commissioned 2 – 3 years hence.
